Privacy Policy
This policy describes what Lip the app and lip.mylittletools.in the website actually do, which for the app is almost nothing.

What we collect
Lip the app has no account, no telemetry and no analytics. It counts how much you dictate so the Insights page has something to show, but those counters stay in Lip's own preferences on your Mac and are never sent anywhere.
Transcription runs against a Whisper model that lives on your disk. Your audio and your transcripts are never transmitted anywhere, because there is no server on our end to send them to.
On-device processing
When you hold the trigger key and speak, Lip captures audio, transcribes it locally, and discards the audio as soon as the text lands in your cursor. The audio is never written to a file, not even a temporary one.
What does persist, all of it on your Mac: the Whisper model, your personal dictionary, your snippets, your local usage counters, the licence blob that unlocks the app, a marker recording when your trial started, and a diagnostic log. The log records what Lip did, never what you said — transcripts are redacted out of it. None of this leaves your Mac; there is no upload step in the code for it to leave through.
Licence activation
Lip makes exactly two kinds of outbound connection, and neither one carries your audio, your transcripts or your usage data. The first is fetching model weights from huggingface.co, and only if you choose a model that isn't the one bundled in the app. The second is licence activation, described below. Nothing else in the app opens a connection, which you can check yourself — see /security for the command and what its output means.
Activation itself runs in a separate helper program bundled with the app rather than in Lip's main binary. When you activate, that helper sends four things to our activation server: your licence key, a salted hash of your device's identifier, the app version, and a device label so that you can tell your Macs apart in your purchase record. On most Macs that label is the computer name you chose, which is often a personal name — you can change it in System Settings before activating if you'd rather it weren't. The server returns a signed licence file, and that round trip is the entirety of what leaves your Mac because of licensing.
Our activation server keeps a keyed hash of your licence key and that salted device hash, so reinstalling Lip doesn't consume one of your three devices. It does not store your key itself and it never sees your email. The device label goes to Polar, alongside your purchase record, and not to us.
Payment
Payments are handled by Polar, our merchant of record. Polar is the legal seller: they process the payment, collect and remit any VAT or sales tax, and issue your receipt.
They collect your name, email address, billing country and tax status as part of that, and your purchase and licence records are held by Polar rather than by us. Your card details go straight to Polar and never touch Lip's own infrastructure.
Their handling of your payment data is governed by their own privacy policy, linked at checkout.
Website
lip.mylittletools.in itself runs no analytics, loads no third-party scripts, and sets no cookies.
The fonts you see on this page are hosted on this site rather than fetched from a third-party font service, so even reading this policy doesn't send a request anywhere else.
Your rights
The only personal data connected to you is your purchase record and, once you activate, the email address stored in your own licence file on your own Mac.
For access, correction or deletion of your purchase and billing data, or for anything else including your licence record, email support@mylittletools.in and we'll act on it directly.
